Three years ago, we did a series called “Links” that talked about how we could all be links in the process of others coming to faith in Christ. This idea has been a passion of mine ever since I read this quote by Cliff Knechtle that says:
"A person coming to Christ is like a chain with many links. There is a first link, middle links, and a last link. There are many influences and conversations that precede a person’s decision to convert to Christ. I know the joy of being the first link at times, a middle link usually, and occasionally the last link. God has not called me to only be the last link. He called me to be faithful and to love all people."
In the series, we had a person each week share their story of the “Links” in their life that helped them come to faith in Jesus.
That series was so popular that people told me we should do it again. So last year, we did it again, and the response was similar. We are a community that loves to hear each other’s stories! So this Sunday, we are going to do another three-week series and hear people’s link stories. Hearing these stories helps us understand how God has worked in our lives. It helps us point out the links in our own lives. But it also encourages us to think about who we can be a link to in our friends’ process of coming to faith in Jesus. The great thing about being a link is that we know God causes the growth and interest in people’s lives; we just need to be available.
So we added another twist to the series this year. We will complete this series on Psalm Sunday, April 13. Then on Easter Sunday, April 20th, we will start a new series called FAQs. In this series, we will look at the frequently asked questions that many of us have. And we will start with, “Did the resurrection actually happen?” Then we will explore questions like, what about purpose in our lives? Why does God allow suffering? Why do the unjust rarely get punished? So this would be a perfect series to invite your friends. And who knows, maybe you will end up being a link in their life!
